Recently James supervised the editing and proofreading of the English translation of a collection of essays by Ham Gwang-bok. The book is titled A Living History of the DMZ: Thirty Years of Journeys in the DMZ Borderlands. The essays span the long career of Mr. Ham as he worked as a journalist covering the DMZ. The stories are varied and fascinating and he gives a voice to a part of the world that is repressed by miles of barbed wire and military control. His stories delve into the natural world, the settlers that live near the DMZ, and into the regional history.

Currently James is working on a field guide to Korean wildlife. It will be the first of its kind to be published in the English language. This handbook will cover Korean natural history, ecology, and wildlife identification. It is written for the travelers that explore Korea's mountains, rivers and valleys and want to learn more about what flora and fauna exist on the Korean peninsula. Chapters include commonly encountered mammals, reptiles and amphibians, along with animals that are endangered and facing extinction.
